Data Needs for X-ray Satellites

T. R. Kallman (NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenflight, MD 20771 USA)

In this talk I will review the current status of atomic data for X-ray astronomy satellites. This includes some of the astrophysical issues which can be addressed, current modeling and analysis techniques, computational tools, the limitations imposed by currently available atomic data, and the validity of standard assumptions. I will also discuss ideas for the future: challenges associated with future missions, computational opportunities, and goals for atomic data collection.

Paper presented at ICAMDATA 2012, Gaithersburg, MD, USA (3 October 2012)
